I can't remember what day we are on with the sun room... end of the 2nd week...

Everyday we have hit a milestone... I just can't seem to remember exactly what we did every day and what the milestone was... here is a recap as best as I can remember:

The electrical wires have been installed
The windows are in!!!!!
The roof insulation is all up
Ben put up some gutters since monsoon season has officially begun
We got hail the other evening
Furring strips are almost completely put up on the roof (get ready for drywall/ceiling)
Plumber came back to fix a small leak in the pipes (good thing it was spotted before adding insulation)

I'm sure there are more things... just can't remember! Ben is a machine!

On the baby side... the boffice is getting cleaned out to get ready for baby. Actually started putting all the baby items we've received into the dresser! My sister sent me a large box FULL of baby stuff (mostly pink/girl items since she is having a boy). We got lucky... we are inheriting all of Cousin Alexa's baby items. It was fun opening it up and seeing the tiny items! Makes it a little more real. Here is a picture of me holding up one of the new toys we just got from Cousin Alexa (I really don't know what possessed me to hold it up to my face... it's the hormones!).

Baby Blue is still moving around like a crazy girl! I think I actually felt a flip of some sort the other day. So crazy! Not sure if I reported on this or not (it's the hormones)... I got my results back from my gestational diabetes screening. I am A-OK and my iron levels were great! I'm continuously gaining weight and I'm definitely feeling like a swollen pregnant woman! My blood pressure is still normal (for those of you worrying about it) and so far so good. Whenever I feel discomfort I just remind myself that it is only temporary and the outcome is such a blessing!

We are all surviving the ridiculous heat/humidity/thunderstorms in the evenings. We managed to go to the local pool to swim a few laps (we were exhausted just after a couple!). We went to a museum art opening and caught up with some good friends. We have just a few more days left until we both have to go back to work... the summer felt even shorter this year. Trying to make the most of it.

Day 5, 6, 7, 8, 9... the Sun Room is taking over our lives!!!!!!

A ton was accomplished the last 5 days! Ben has been working on the sun room for the past 9 days without taking a day off (even on the 4th of July)! I don't even know if I can remember all that he has done the past 5 days... most of it he has done on his own without our knowledgeable neighbor.

Check out the list:

Roof prepped for insulation
Holes made to allow for venting and netting put up to prevent bugs
Electrical cases put up for outlets
Holes in the framing to allow for electrical wiring
Insulation put up on the roof
Concrete pad made for hot water heater shed

Yesterday and today the plumbers came to move our hot water heater outside on the new concrete pad as well as move the water lines for the washing machine (to go next to the dryer).

Our neighbor electrician also came over and wired the electrical wires.

The boys enduring the heat!

A man and his friend watching the thunderstorm rolling in (we've had thunderstorm and flash flood warnings the past two evenings!).

Everyday, I tell Ben how proud I am of him for doing so much of the work himself. He is truly a wonderful man and very handy with his skills!

Day 4 of Sun Room

Happy July! We actually got a little bit of rain for a short spell the other night... more rain may come next week... definitely feeling the humidity!

Today started off with our electrician coming over before we even started working on the sun room. He is also another neighbor of ours (we are finding it's great to have such handy/skilled neighbors). Today he worked on updating our dryer outlet and moving it into a better spot.

While the outlet was being worked on, Stephen and Ben came up with a plan of what was needing to be worked on today. Stephen had to leave early this morning so he left Ben with some "homework."

Check out Ben's homework: he had to add extra beams to the roof so that we can add more insulation. Ben got to use a nail gun that he borrowed from our other neighbor (have I ever commented on what great neighbors we have?). He LOVED using it but from a story he heard from Stephen he is definitely respecting the massive tool. Although, now he is proposing that we may want to get a mini nail gun to help when we are adding our built in counters/shelves! We also planned out where we want to add the outlets.

The boys went in to get a hair cut and later in the evening, Ben and I went on a date night!

UPDATE: Our baby blanket arrived and it looks so awesome! We actually love it more in person than on the website and it definitely has a vintage/modern look to it! LOVE it!

During the weekend, Ben will be working on some smaller projects to prep for next week. Stay tuned!
